Decaf

Popayán is located in the department of Cauca at 1,700 m.a.s.l. This regions topography is perfect to grow exceptional coffee! The so-called Meseta de Popayan is sheltered by the Andes mountain range which helps generate homogeneous climatic and altitudinal characteristics. The result is a balanced cup profile with floral and caramel notes. We collaborate with approximately 65 growers who contribute to this program and with whom we build long-term relationships. This program encourages farmers to focus on quality and based on quality assessment we provide up to 20% premiums above the market price.

This decaffeination process is unique. The caffeine is extracted using sugar cane and water which enhances sweetness while maintaining coffee attributes.

The green beans are put into a steam chamber where the silver skin is removed from the bean. After this, the beans are submerged in spring water and as soon the coffee is saturated with water it is sent to the extractors where the beans have direct contact with sugar cane ethyl acetate for 8 hours which dissolves the caffeine content.

Then the decaffeinated coffee is dried in a chamber to reach the same moisture content that it had prior to the process.

After trying many decaf roasts, I eventually discovered Flight’s and that's where the search ended. I love coffee but have decreased my caffeine intake several years ago. Flight seems to care about their decaf rather than the ‘hurumph, do we have to?’ attitude that I suspect resides with most roasters...

Favourite decaf

I was looking for a decaf coffee made without harsh chemicals when I was pregnant and this was by far the best coffee I could find. Bought it with the Aeropress which works really well and makes a great cup of coffee morning or night!

After years of enjoying Flight switched to decaf to reduce my palpitations. Love the decaf as, smooth, full of flavour, gets me going in the morning and the heart is happy. Miss trying some of the single origin though

Best decaf

I love coffee and worked as a barista for a few years (so definitely bit of a coffee snob) when I needed decaf while pregnant I was skeptical. Could I find a decaf coffee that gave me the aroma and flavour I was craving. Enter Flight Coffee's delicious decaf. Now I drink decaffeinated most of the time and still get to enjoy the experience of a great coffee - without the jitters. The subscription has been awesome. Saving my time and I love the convenience.
