EL PROGRESO

COLOMBIA

Geremias collaborated with his brother Norberto to produce two very unique and delicious coffees. The Quisabony brothers have neighbouring farms and while Geremias has produced this Pink Caturra on his farm El Progreso, his brother has produced a Pink Bourbon. Not a lot is known about these varietals as both the Pink Bourbon and Pink Caturra have only recently been processed separately to other varietals on farms in Colombia.

The true origins and genetic history of the “Pink” varieties appearing in Huila in recent years are heavily debated. The story we have most consistently heard is that someone brought one of the Quisabony brothers’ neighbours, Gabriel Castaño seeds of a naturally mutated variety from the department of Tolima. As soon as Gabriel’s neighbours heard that this coffee had not only a stunning cup profile but also a great resistance to leaf rust, they started planting the same seeds.

Being a washed coffee from Huila it has classically bright acidity with very clean and defined flavours. Grown at a similar altitude, with very similar terroir and processed in a similar way to his brother’s Pink Caturra, we thought it would be an excellent opportunity to showcase what makes both of these varieties so unique. You can try these coffees individually or you can order them as a pack and try them side-by-side. We only have limited stock of these stunning coffees, so get in quick!
